We have not posted for FIVE months! Horrors!
I apoligize for being so inconsistent. Life has been very busy this whole year. Included in all the busy-ness have been so many new things that I am thankful for. Overall, we are grateful to God for health and strength and happiness to run life's race at His side.
What has kept us so busy?
1. Life in general as the directors of Portantorchas, with the resulting long days, activities, weekend trips, etc.
2. Rekha is homeschooling this year! It has been a blast. We are enjoying everything about it, except for Math. Hopefully that will improve!
3. Neena is in Grade 3 and is on the school Soccer Team and in the soccer club. She has played in a number of games and even scored a goal. Way to go, little athlete!
4. Jayna is in Suzuki violin and still loving it. She receives a group Music Theory class and an individual lesson every week.
5. Rekha started piano classes.
6. I (Sara) had an opportunity to teach Missions at a Bible school with a similar program to Portantorchas. It was an honor and I am thrilled that these young adults know more about God's heart for the world.
7. I also taught my Missions class at Portantorchas and loved it as much as ever. I am humbled to be used as a mobilizer.
So, with all of that said, I hope to be more reliable in the next few months. Our semester is over and things are slowing down a bit. I am glad for the time to refresh my mind and to deal with some (hopefully) minor health issues.

Passion 2012
I have been watching some of the live stream of Passion 2012, a giant conference for young adult believers, held this year in Atlanta.
The Passion website is www.268generation.com and the name is based on Isaiah 26:8 "your name and renown are the desire of our hearts."
It's been awesome to see and hear that they have raised over $1 million to fight human trafficking! To know that there are over 45,000 young people who want to make a change in their generation and this world is awesome. It gives us hope for what is to come!
The sessions can be seen on the website, and include music by Christ Tomlin, Dave Crowder band, Lecrae, and also speakers like John Piper. It's worth seeing, and being encouraged that God is at work in the lives of young people. I pray that the Passion continues to change their lives in practical ways, and that this renewed faith that many of them walk away with will be put into action!

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012
Well, I cannot complain about 2011. Overall, I am thankful that God gave me, and all of my loved ones, one more full year of life. That was the gift of 2011 for all of us.
There were good days and bad days with ups and downs. Jayna has a violin bow exercise that sums it up well:
"Up like a rocket, down like rain,
Back and forth like a choo-choo train."
There were dry moments when the routine made us forget the joy of living, and the slippery patches when we felt our feet would fail. But again, the chance to experience all of it is a gift, and to spend life with family and loved ones makes it even better.
The sermon we received yesterday sums up our forward view for 2012. It was based on Psalm 1.
"Blessed is the man ... [whose] delight is in the law of the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
And whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers."
I hope to be a LIVING tree this year, that grows and matures, that bears fruit, that offers shade to those who need it, and that lives as a testament to God's goodness and love.
